Well, we’ll show you the good things about Istikhara and how it makes decisions easier and brings peace inside. Let’s explore the concept of the Istikhara prayer in Islam, which is like a unique gift that connects us to something bigger and calms our hearts.

In life’s journey, we often encounter various crossroads and decisions that can shape our future. In such moments, seeking guidance from Allah(SWT) is common in our Islam faith. In Islam, Istikhara is a beautiful and profound way of seeking Allah’s advice when faced with significant choices.

Step-by-Step Guide to Perform Istikhara

There is the following procedure for performing the Istikhara;

  • Saying two rak’ah prayers. It is better to read surah Al-Kafiroon follows surah Al-Fatiha in the first rak’ah and surah Al-Ikhlas afterward surah Al-Fatiha in the second rak’ah.
  •  After the second rak’ah, say Tasleem.
  • After saying salam, one raises their palms and begins to pray. It is best to start by saying Allah the Merciful Names and Qualities.
  •  After finishing the prayer, recite the Istakhara dua and try to sleep on your right side.

Dua for Istikhara:

 “O Allah, I ask you to grant power through your knowledge, and I seek power over you through your ability, and I ask you of your great bounty, for you are able, and I am not able. You know and I do not know, and you know all of the Unseen things. O Allah, if You know that this matter (here you name your need) is good for me in my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affairs, then decree it for me and make it easy for me, then kick me in it. O Allah, if You know that this matter (here you name your need) is bad for my religion, my livelihood, and the outcome of my affair, then avert it from me and avert me from it. And ordain for me the good wherever it may be, then make me content with it. (And he names his needs) and in narration, then he satisfied me with it.”
