Dua an Effective Way to Recover From illness
As a Muslim, it is necessary to make a Dua for the sick. The Dua is considered the miracle that recovers the sick from illness. We always never lose hope and continuously ask Allah for the recovery of the ill person. Furthermore, we should take the lesson from the illness of Hazrat Ayyub (AS). He was the Prophet of Allah(SWT) and got a severe disease but the Ayyub (AS) never lost hope.
He was consistently seeking Allah’s mercy and making the Dua daily. Therefore, Allah(SWT) recovered him from ill, it’s all because of the Dua. Despite his circumstances, Prophet Ayyub(AS) kept patient and appreciative. He asked Allah(SWT) for help by saying the Dua. The part that follows Dua is an extract from the verse:
رَبِّي أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ وَأَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
“My Lord, I have been afflicted with harm, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
Thus, Islamic Supplications are the way to connect us with Allah and the best way to seek any demand from Allah(SWT).
Dua to Heal the Pain:
According to Aisha (RA), anytime any of them were unwell, the Prophet (PBUH) would touch the area of discomfort and speak a particular Dua for protection:
اللَّهُمَّ ربَّ النَّاسِ ، أَذْهِب الْبَأسَ ، واشْفِ ، أَنْتَ الشَّافي لا شِفَاءَ إِلاَّ شِفَاؤُكَ ، شِفاءً لا يُغَادِرُ سقَماً
“Oh Allah, Lord of the people, remove the pain, heal, you are the healer, there is no cure but yours, a cure that leaves no disease”.
Uthman Ibn Abi Al-‘As(RA) stated: I appealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about discomfort in my body. “Place your hand where you’re having pain and say: ‘Bismillah (In the Name of Allah)’ a total of three times; then repeat seven times: Translation (I seek safety with Allah and with His Majesty from all harm that affects me and that which I apprehend).”
Similarly, we can use this same method if we feel pain in any area of the body;
- Three times bismillah(بِسْمِ اللَّهِ)
- Seven times (أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ اللَّهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ)
