“Those who disbelieved from among the People of the Book and the polytheists were not (expected) to desist (from their wrong beliefs) unless there comes to them a clear proof,a messenger from Allah who recites the purified scrolls, containing (right and) straight writings. And those who were given the Book did not disagree but after the clear proof came to them, while they were not ordered but to worship Allah, making their submission exclusive for him with no deviation, and to establish Salāh and pay Zakāh. That is the way of the straight religion.Surely those who disbelieved from among the People of the Book and the polytheists will be in the fire of Jahannam , in which they will be living forever. Those are the worst of all human beings. As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, they are the best of all human beings. Their reward, with their Lord, is gardens of eternity beneath which rivers flow, in which they will be abiding forever. Allah is well pleased with them, and they are well pleased with Him. That (reward) is for him who has awe of his Lord”.

Reasons of Revelation of Surah Bayyinah
The Muslim scholars and interpreters differ on the period of revelation of Surah Bayyinah. Some scholars consider it as the Makki chapter and others call it the Madni chapter. However, the majority of scholars agreed that Suratul Bayena was revealed in Madina as it addresses the people of the Book and it is characteristic of the Madni chapters. Al Bayyinah Surah was revealed to guide the people of Book toward the right path who had changed the divine scripts and diverted from the true religion as mentioned in Surah Al Bayyinah Ayat 5, and the Mushriks who were involved in idolatry and polytheism.
Theme of Bayyinah Surah
In Bayyinah Surah, Allah Almighty explicitly commences the need of sending the Messenger SAW and revelation of the Holy Quran. It is mentioned that this is a response to the claim of disbelievers that if clear proof was revealed, they would accept the truth (Islam). However, it did not happen due to their envy and stubbornness. The theme of the Surat Al Bayyinah hinges on this concept. Let’s look at what Allah addresses in Al Bayyinah Surah.
Disbelievers
The word( كَفَرُوۡا ) in the first verse of Lam Yakunil Surah refers to two kinds of disbelievers that
includes the people of the book and the mushriks. The people of the book are referred to the Christians and Jews to whom Allah sent His Prophets and revealed the divine books but they changed the Holy script and lost the right path. The second kind of disbelievers are the mushriks who either did not acknowledge Allah Almighty at all and some acknowledge Allah and also worship other gods. According to Quran, it was necessary to reveal clear proof to devoid them of their disbelief (Kufr).
The Clear Evidence
Sura Bayinah unequivocally mentions that the disbelievers would not leave their disbelief until the clear evidence was not revealed. Allah says we sent to them clear evidence that refers to the Prophet Muhammad SAW and the Holy Quran which is a purified scroll and has straight writings.
The True Religion–Surah al Bayyinah ayat 5
Surah al Bayyinah ayat 5 talks about the true or upright religion. Allah says the true religion (Islam) which the Prophet Muhammad SAW preaches is the same religion that had been given to the people of the Book. But they adopted false beliefs and wicked deeds afterwards and created different sects. The right and true religion has always been the same which enjoined the worship of Allah, the establishment of prayer, and payment of Zakat.
The Best Creature
Surah Bayinah cites the best creatures of Allah. They are the people who have faith in Allah, embrace Allah’s commands and do good deeds. They are superior to all creatures and adopt Lord’s obedience and tilt to His will.
The Worst Creature- Quran 98:6
Quran 98:6 refers to those people the worst creature to whom Allah sent the Prophet and book but they did not give heed to the message of Allah and remained stubbornly disbeliever due to their ignorance. Suratul Bayena says it is not due to lack of knowledge that they remained in darkness but it is due to change in the book Allah revealed to them.
Destination of People
Bayinah Surah, the Surah 98 of the Holy Quran reiterates the destination of people based on their faith and deeds. The worst creature-the disbelievers will be destined to fire and will dwell there forever.
The best of the creatures will be entered into paradise, their eternal abode. Allah Almighty is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him.
