Explanation of Tajweed Rules
- Qalqalah (echoing sound): The letter ق in قُلْ is a qalqalah kubra (strong echo) due to the sukoon.
- Madd Munfasil: In يَا أَيُّهَا, the long vowel (madd) in يَا is followed by a hamzah in a separate word (أَيُّهَا). This is Madd Munfasil and should be prolonged for 4–5 counts.
- Idgham with Ghunnah: أَيُّهَا The Noon sakinah is merged with yaa with a nasal sound.
- Lam Shamsiyyah: In الْكَافِرُونَ, the ل in ال is silent because the following letter ك is a sun letter (shamsiyyah), so it is merged.
- Madd Tabee’i: In لَا, the alif after ل is stretched naturally for 2 counts.
- Hamzah Wasl: The أَعْبُدُ starts with hamzah wasl. Read only when starting from this word.
- Ain (ع) should be pronounced from the middle of the throat. This is important in أَعْبُدُ and تَعْبُدُونَ.
- Ikhfa Haqiqi: In اَنْتُمْ, Noon Sakinah is ikhfa Haqiqi. It is pronounced as the ghunna.
- Ghunnah: عَابِدُونَ and عَابِدٌ involve nasal sounds due to the presence of ن or م with shaddah or idgham.
- Qalqala: There is qalqala in Daal of اَعْبُدُ, when stopping there.
- Ikhfa: In مَا أَعْبُدُ, when Noon saakin or tanween is followed by a specific letter (like ع, one of the ikhfa letters), the sound is hidden slightly and nasalized.
- Idhgham with Ghunnah: عَابِدٌ مَّا Meem has shaddah with double tanween on letter Daal. It should be read with ghunnah.
- Ikhfa: The Meem in لَكُمْ followed by دِينُكُمْ is a place to lightly hide the Meem sound.
- Idghaam: In وَلِيَ دِينِ, the ya comes after a sukoon, causing merging without ghunnah.
