Durood Tunjina - Meanings

This is also a variant phrase used for this durood. The word ‘’Tunjina’’ means ‘’To get protection from something or to rescue’’. Darood Tunjina collectively means ‘’Seeking for blessings and assistance from Allah by the source of Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) ‘’. Moreover, a famous Turkish scholar Muhammad Haqqi Effendi Al Nazili has stated about Durood Tunjina that;

‘’This is much better to include mentioning our Prophet Muhammad prayer in our prayers i.e. start the prayer with Allahumma ṣalli ʿala Sayyidinā Muḥammadin wa ʿalā āli Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṣalātan tunjīnā bihā..) as the Prophet ﷺ said that it is much compiled and more beneficial in fulfillment of any dua.’’[D.1301 AH/1884 CE]

When they started reciting it gradually, the danger of the typhoon was almost finished – at that time, they recited up to 300th time only.
• Another amazing benefit of ‘’Surah Tanjeena’’ is narrated by scholars that ‘’Whoever reads this supplication 1000 times to fulfill a wish – Allah (SWT) will reward him/her with that within no time. ‘’One day a person from a village came to Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and requested that He wanted to cook a fish for the last three days but when he tried to do so, he could not. He said that when he put on the flame and tried to cook the fish, the fish did not get fire and hence not cooked. Holy Prophet (S.A.W) talks to that fish and asks, Why is this happening?‘’

‘’The fish replied, May Allah bless you, Oh my dear Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) I recite a durood which keeps me safe from fire. Prophet asked, Tell me about these lines. The fish recited Darood Mahi and told the Prophet (S.A.W) to teach this to people. Whoever will recite this, will be safe from the fire of Jahannum.’’
